A leading boutique Investment Bank is looking for an Associate to join their growing team. Over the past year the firms deal flow and growth has doubled. This is a great opportunity for an Associate level candidate who wants to be a banker, without working the banking hours. This firm does 50% of their work in M&A and 50% in Restructuring.

Job Function:

  • Preparing and delivering presentations on restructuring and financing matters
  • Participating in client meetings and calls
  • Performing valuation, debt capacity, liquidity, and other restructuring analyses
  • Analyzing business plans and participating in due diligence
  • Designing restructuring strategies
  • Conducting research on industries with little prior knowledge
  • Developing strategic reviews and evaluating distressed M&A opportunities
  • Review and research stressed and distressed credits using CapIQ and Bloomberg
  • Engage with client personnel and management as necessary to achieve objectives
  • Create client-ready presentations showing clear and concise thinking and rationale
  • Preparation of investment memos and business plan summaries
  • Researching companies’ competitive position, market size, and industry dynamics
  • Management of third-party diligence providers, including legal, accounting and industry specific consultants
  • Detailed financial analysis and modeling
  • Assisting with legal documentation and post-closing legal issues
  • Sourcing actionable business development opportunities
  • Marketing the firm to both internal and external constituents
  • Executing and analyzing post-close value creation initiatives
  • Managing and training Associates & Analysts
  • Lead and direct a team of less experienced professionals in executing engagements


Job Requirements:  

  • 4-6 years of experience in relevant disciplines
  • Strong academic background and specific finance experience in either investment banking, management consulting, accounting, or related fields
  • Top performer within peer group in the following areas: qualitative and quantitative analytical skills, understanding of finance, financial modeling, business judgment, initiative, and attention to detail
  • Experience linking business strategy to performance and due diligence findings
  • High degree of intellectual curiosity, proactive mentality, and desire to work in an unstructured, entrepreneurial environment
  • Candidates should also have excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Very strong written and oral communication skills
  • Team player with proven ability to work in a collaborative environment
  • Superior Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint skills required
  • High level of integrity, with strong professional references
  • Ability to travel regularly
