Top global law firm in Chicago is looking to bring on a Controller to join their excellent and friendly/collegial team. This will be a hybrid role with competitive pay and benefits!


Compensation : $250000 - $325000

Job Function:

  • Responsible for managing all aspects of operational/general accounting areas for the law firm (domestic + international locations) including AP, cash receipts, international accounting, payroll, intercompany balancing, etc.  
  • 5 direct reports, ~20-25 indirect reports/team
  • Advise on and create team objectives (short term + long term), policies and procedures   
  • Ensure month-end and year-end financial close
  • Work cross functionally with all other departments  
  • Contribute in annual audit of financial statements  
  • Establish and maintain systems and controls - ex. help lead transition to Aderant   
  • Lead, develop, manage and mentor team managers and staff  


Job Requirements:

  • Bachelors in Accounting, Finance or related field
  • CPA - Required  
  • Top/Major Law Firm experience (ex. AmLaw 50 or 100)  
  • 15+ Years overall experience
  • 6+ Years managing/supervising  
  • Strong systems experience in Aderant or Elite 3E - ideally with system migration/implementation experience  
  • Strong analytical skills with an attention for detail  
  • Proven record of exemplary leadership experience/skills
