Credit Analyst
Job Description:
A rotational role within the Private Equity firms Credit arm. The Credit Analyst will be involved with all areas of portfolio management below. In the third year, each analyst in the program will begin to specialize in one or two core areas. After three years, assuming strong performance and business needs, there is an opportunity to join the investments team or to join the finance team.
Investment Due Diligence for CLO Platform (beginning 3-6 months into role, depending on need and performance; no prior experience necessary)
- Conduct in-depth fundamental credit analysis of new issues in leveraged loans, including participating in investor presentations, management meetings, analyzing business drivers and risk, drafting investment write-ups, and presenting to investment committee
Portfolio Company Performance Monitoring
- Assess portfolio company performance through review of financial statements, attendance on lender update calls, and discussions with company’s management, as needed
- Prepare financial update flash summaries and monitoring reports
- Maintain database of key investment metrics (both position-level and company-level)
Portfolio Company Valuations
- Perform quarterly valuation analysis of illiquid investments
- Liaise with valuation firms on external valuations
Management and Investor Reporting
- Prepare various weekly, monthly, and quarterly internal and external reporting for portfolio managers, lending partners, equity investors, credit ratings agencies, etc.
Fundraising and Fund Financing Initiatives
- Prepare ad hoc analyses and data requests for investors
- Assist team with various financing, fundraising, investor relations, or new product activities
Portfolio Company Reporting Management
- Monitor status of monthly, quarterly, and annual portfolio company financial updates and ensure financials are saved down and circulated to appropriate team for monitoring
- Work with agents on missing information or follow up questions
Job Requirements:
- Finance or accounting degree, GPA 3.5+
- 1-3 years of experience in financial services
- Strong attention to detail required
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills, which include basic knowledge of macros and pivot tables
- CPA/CFA or other professional designation a plus
