The Job Position:

The Manager/Sr. Associate will focus primarily on developing and maintaining fair valuation models for privately held or otherwise illiquid securities that require fair valuation, conduct detailed risk analytics using factor models and other external or internally developed tools, work with large data sets to support research for internal and marketing purposes, develop reports, and present results for the Firm’s products. The Manager/Sr. Associate is expected to develop a strong understanding of the Firm’s portfolio objectives, investment processes, industry and market trends/developments and apply advanced quantitative financial knowledge to effectively respond to regular and ad-hoc requests for security valuation, risk analytics, and research projects. The candidate will be expected to excel at problem solving, analyze large amounts of data/information, effectively communicate results, and work well in cross-functional teams. The Manager/Sr. Associate will work closely with the Manager/Sr. Associate of Risk Analytics, the Director of Portfolio & Risk Analytics, and the Risk Analytics Associate. A strong quantitative background and research skills, experience with asset pricing, and a proactive and professional attitude are essential.




Security Valuation (Approximately 30% of role)

  • Research and recommend applicable valuation methodologies for the daily valuation of privately held equity securities and derivatives.
  • Construct and implement proprietary valuation models, prepare model documentation, and perform model maintenance and updates.
  • Present and explain valuation methodologies and models to the Risk group & our Client’s Fair Valuation Committee, and auditors.
  • Prepare custom reports for internal purposes to monitor company/portfolio/market valuation trends.
  • Assist with daily model updates and the pricing process as needed.
  • Stay current on valuation methodologies, trends and developments in the industry and apply, present, and explain those findings.

 Risk Analytics (Approximately 30% of role)

  • Develop a strong understanding of the Firm’s portfolios and investment objectives, monitor for unusual/unintended risk exposures, and be able to precisely explain any fluctuations.
  • Develop a strong understanding and ability to run performance attribution, contribution, and other commonly used FactSet reports to analyze portfolios.
  • Perform ad-hoc risk analysis using third-party factor models and other quantitative risk tools and support the P&RA group’s risk projects and research with quantitative analysis.
  • Research and develop proprietary quantitative and qualitative models/tools to measure value and risk.
  • Assist with the design and production of custom risk reports; interpret and communicate results to portfolio managers, upper management, client service, and sales teams.
  • Prepare responses for risk-related questions from RFPs, RFIs or other client/prospect requests.
  • Develop strong understanding and ability to work with our Client’s existing tools and reports for measuring portfolio overlap and capacity.
  • Develop strong understanding of the Firm’s liquidity reporting framework, industry standards for liquidity measurement, and be able to assist with the production of liquidity reports.
  • Actively participate in projects related to the improvement of the Risk Analytics tools currently in use; continuously evaluate the Firm’s and clients’ risk analytics needs; and provide recommendations.
  • Research and evaluate financial industry risk platforms for fundamental portfolio and risk analysis to complement current analytical capabilities.

Other (Approximately 30% of role)

  • Actively participate in idea generation, brainstorming, and research/analytics for white papers and publications. Assist with data processing and analysis for research and marketing purposes.
  • Assist with ad-hoc projects that require rigorous analytical/research approach.
  • Attend relevant industry events and training.

Job Requirements:

Education and Experience:

  • Master’s Degree (or higher) in Finance, Financial Engineering, Economics, or a related field; FRM and/or CFA certifications are a plus.
  • 3-7 years of relevant work experience in asset pricing and risk analysis in a similar position.
  • Experience with fundamental factor models, especially for performance and risk attribution, preferably using FactSet and MSCI Barra models.


  • Strong theoretical and applied asset pricing knowledge.
  • Strong knowledge of financial markets, multi-factor models, and attribution analysis.
  • Advanced knowledge in statistics, calculus, and algebra.
  • Experience and strong intuition for working with large data sets for research purposes.
  • Experience with FactSet PA and/or Bloomberg is a plus.

Skills and Abilities:

  • High proficiency with Microsoft Excel is required; programing knowledge is a plus.
  • Strong analytical skills, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills; ability to explain/communicate advanced analytical and finance concepts clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to take initiative, prioritize and organize workload, multi-task, adapt quickly to change, and deliver results with strong attention to detail under the pressure of deadlines.
  • Ability to thrive in a team-oriented environment and collaborate with cross-functional teams with a highly proactive and energetic client service focus.
  • Excellent time management skills, detail-oriented, creative, strong work ethic, and interested in developing skills and learning continuously.
