FPA Manager
Job Description:
Business plan process (annually (Fall/Winter))
Review 5-year business plan submissions from subsidiaries
Attend subsidiary business plan presentation meetings
Work with contacts at the relevant subsidiaries to understand the key strategies within the business plans as well as changes to the plans from the prior year, key priorities for the underlying businesses and the largest risks to successful execution of the plans
Ensure submissions reflect results and transactions in accordance with accounting policies
Utilize the consolidation system to aggregate data and create summarized financial statements for the 5-year plan period
Layer corporate assumptions onto the plan consistent with overarching Group objectives
Distill the detailed business plan into presentations for senior management and board of directors review, clearly and concisely explaining the key drivers of the plan
Assist with the extrapolation of the 5-year business plan into a 10-year plan that is incorporated into The Fund's investor day presentations
Forecast process (quarterly)
Coordinate the review of quarterly forecast submissions from subsidiaries, including overseeing the final high-level output provided to senior management and other users
Identify unusual or unexpected variances for follow-up
Leverage knowledge of each subsidiary’s business plan to identify inconsistencies or changes between the business plan and updated forecasts
Utilize an understanding of the underlying business and macroeconomic factors to assess any related impact on forecasted results
Clearly summarize variance explanations in writing and verbally to the team, including assisting more junior team members with explanations for their assigned subsidiaries
Prepare responses to review questions from senior management and other reviewers, taking into account their perspective and the items most relevant to them
When actual results are submitted, compare to forecasts, identify variances and follow-up with appropriate contacts to understand and/or assess the need for updates to be made
Capital planning and liquidity management (ongoing)
Review weekly capital plan files for senior management, highlighting changes in capital needs or distributions from the prior week
Understand changes to the capital needs/distributions and assess their impact on the overall liquidity position of Real Estate
On a quarterly basis, own the preparation of a 24-month capital plan:
Leverage the business plan and apply subsequent updates and changes
Succinctly bridge the change in liquidity from the prior quarter
Identify the most important components of the capital plan, including the biggest risks, and clearly point these out in Powerpoint format for senior management
- Build relationships with frequent contacts across the organization and within our investments to assist the team with obtaining accurate, timely and useful information
Oversee the work of more junior team members, ensuring we maintain the high quality and timeliness of our deliverables
Job Requirements:
- 5-8 years experience in finance, or accounting with reporting/analytics experience
- Financial Services experience required, real estate experience a major plus
- Prior experience in public accounting highly preferred
- CPA preferred
