A private family office based in New York, NY, specializing in traditional and opportunistic investments across public and private markets is currently seeking an Investment Accountant who possesses analytical acumen, intellectual curiosity, and a background in roles such as Private Equity/Alternative Investments Accountant, Accounting/Finance within an Asset Management firm, or public accounting with a focus on the financial services sector. The selected candidate will directly report to the CFO, offering a distinctive opportunity to gain comprehensive exposure to various industries and investment structures.

Job Function:

  • Assisting the CFO with back-office operations, covering budgeting, forecasting, vendor and cash management, and the monthly financial statement closure.    
  • Overseeing portfolio reconciliation processes through a cutting-edge software solution, addressing discrepancies in collaboration with finance and investment teams.    
  • Managing the investment funding process, including the review of subscription documents, pertinent investment details, and initiating the approval flow for wire processing in connection with investment transactions.    
  • Developing and implementing updated processes for uploading transaction data to accounting systems.    
  • Maintaining schedules of investments, new and follow-on transactions, valuation changes, and cap tables as applicable.    
  • Handling responsibilities related to the Family Office Trust Company, such as the board package, annual audit, and regulatory filings.    
  • Providing ad-hoc support to the Investment team as needed.  


Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
  • 3 - 5 years of experience, Public Accounting or Private Equity fund accounting experience preferred
  • Advanced Excel skills required
  • CPA preferred
  • Honed ability to own workstreams with actionable conclusions, can take initiative in creating value for the portfolios and be resourceful in developing insights
  • Ability to communicate ideas clearly (verbal and written), including synthesis of data into information
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to multitask
  • Strong time management skills
