Our client, a successful family office based in North New Jersey, is seeking a paralegal to join their tax lien investment group. The family office is backed by a leading CEO of a $1b hedge fund.

Job Function:

  • Service and maintain tax liens in tax lien software and keep track of physical copies in office  
  • Monitor redemptions from counties and work with municipalities to release certificates in a timely fashion to recoup redemption payment.  
  • Once redemptions come into accounts, record redemption and maintain breakout of payment received. Principal vs interest vs redeemable fees  
  • Work with accounting to ensure accuracy  
  • Work with accounting team to reconcile any differences between financial reporting and tax lien software reporting  
  • Work with accounting team to ensure fees that are associated with tax liens are tracked accordingly  
  • Work with municipalities and external counsel to finalize foreclosure process of matured liens  
  • Assist Acquisitions analyst with recording deeds  
  • Assist Acquisitions analyst with registration for tax lien/deed sales  

Job Requirements:

  • 2+ years as a paralegal, preferably covering tax  
  • Strong understanding of federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations.
  • Excellent research, writing, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in legal research tools and software.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy
  • Team player with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • SDA Solutions experience preferred
