The Staff Accountant/AVP, Financial Reporting will be responsible for preparing financial reports, footnotes and MD&A for SEC filings, board reporting and ad-hoc reports. They will also be responsible for management reporting and analysis.

 

Primary Responsibilities           

  • Prepare and coordinate gathering of information for financial statements, financial supplements, press releases and other reports for AGL and its subsidiaries.
  • Perform SEC and FASB technical research. Document and support accounting issues.
  • Prepare analyses of shares and EPS.
  • Prepare statement of cash flows.
  • Review presentations for IR.
  • Prepare quarterly board book.
  • Maintain workpapers and documentation required for an efficient and effective audit in compliance with SOX.
  • Review XBRL tags for SEC quarterly filings.

Job Requirements:


 

  • Minimum of a BS in Accounting
  • For candidates with a public-only background: 3-4 years’ experience
  • For candidates with a public/private mix: 2-3 years of public and 1-3 years’ private experience
  • US GAAP/Statutory financial reporting experience (filing quarterly/annual statements and related schedules)
  • SEC reporting experience
  • Solid knowledge of GAAP and reporting skills
  • Strong sense of ownership of assigned areas
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment
  • Motivated, driven, and results-focused
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Working knowledge of PeopleSoft general ledger preferred
  • High proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Self-motivated, reliable, and consistent
  • Flexibility and the ability to work overtime
  • Insurance industry experience preferred (financial guaranty insurance preferred)
  • XBRL experience preferred.
