A top CPA and Advisory firm with offices in NYC and Long Island seeks tax accountant (Mid to Senior level) to perform trust and estate taxation, including financial and business succession planning; tax planning and compliance for high net worth individuals; and state and local tax planning.

  • Compliance   
    • Prepare federal and multi-state individual, corporate, and partnership income tax returns  
    • Prepare quarterly projections for filing clients’ estimate tax payments
    • Communicate directly with clients regarding information and documentation utilized in tax preparation     
  • Controversy Representation   
    • Represent clients in disputes with taxing authorities by responding to inquiries and assessments   
  • Planning and Structuring   
    • Assist with planning and structuring complex transactions such as real property sales, sales/transfers of businesses, financing arrangements and joint ventures  
    • Research Federal tax matters as needed/required   
  • State and Local   
    • Conduct extensive research analyzing laws governing sales and use, real property transfer, personal property, income and gross receipts taxes as well as entity filing requirements  
    • Prepare and review state and local tax returns including sales and use tax, personal property tax, commercial rent tax and real property transfer tax    
    • Represent clients in state and local income tax and sales and use tax audits     
  • Trusts, Estates, and Gift   
    • Prepare federal fiduciary income tax, estate tax and gift tax returns  
    • Assist in gift planning in order to maximize use of lifetime gift and estate tax exemptions while minimizing estate tax impacts  
  • International   
    • Prepare Reports of Foreign Bank and Financial Accounts for disclosing foreign financial interests to the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network  
    • Plan/Research for both In Bound and Out Bound     

 


Job Requirements:


 

  • An undergraduate or graduate degree in accounting or law CPA, MS in Taxation and/or LLM preferred (or in process)     
  • 3+ years of public tax accounting experience     
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills     
  • Working knowledge of CCH Axcess is a plus
